Whether your child is looking to learn some new skills and have fun or ride with their mates, through to the more high-performance side of the sport, X-Speed Australia Cycling Club encompasses all within our track and road cycling programs.
We offer junior athletes opportunities and structured pathways including the West Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS), X-Speed Pathway to Pro Development Program and opportunities created through association with the UCI Continental team X-Speed United.
Based at the world-class indoor Midvale velodrome we run programs for beginners through to preparation for advanced competition, track tasters for community and corporate groups and inter club race events.
X-SPEED STORY
X-Speed Australia Cycling Club was founded in July 2017 by former Australian racing cyclists Amanda O’Connor and Murray Hall. The formation of the club is a legacy from the 2016 Pacific Youth Track Tournament, where O’Connor and Hall were approached by X-Speed Hong Kong with the idea of establishing a sister club in Perth to facilitate an international student exchange program.
The concept was exciting to the West Australian duo and has matured and developed into a unique modern day cycling club model.
With club values of integrity, teamwork, giving back and humility, X-Speed Australia Cycling Club aims to develop an all-round athlete both on and off the bike.

All X-Speed coaches have completed accredited coaching and 1st Aid courses, and all hold valid Working with Children cards.

Greg Reynolds
Coach
Greg is a dedicated cycling coach with a focus on junior development, specialising in track and road racing. With multiple state titles as a track sprinter, he is committed to creating a supportive environment that fosters technical skills, teamwork, and a love for cycling.
He has also worked in professional sports, gaining valuable insights into the demands of elite athletes. Through tailored coaching strategies and individual attention, he empowers young riders to reach their full potential on and off the bike.
Phil Nicholl's
Coaching Coordinator
Accredited AusCycling Foundation Track Instructor and AusCycling Level 1 Commissaire, Phil has raced road, time trial and track since he was 12, starting in the UK and then at the SpeedDome for the past 20 years. He has picked up over a dozen State medals and one National silver medal, and enjoyed competing at four World Masters Track Championships.
He was mostly self-coached over this period, and also had some great personal coaching from Matt Poyner. Building on this background, he took on a more formal route and became an accredited coach and commissaire a few years ago because he wanted to help others get as much enjoyment out of cycling as he has.
Coach Giovanni
Introducing Giovanni Firmani, a dedicated and experienced cycling coach with a passion for track and road cycling. With over 30 years of amateur road cycling experience in Italy, the UK, and Australia, Giovanni brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his coaching sessions.
As a AusCycling Community and Foundation instructor, Giovanni has been coaching children since 2023, both on track and on the road. His vision is to motivate young cyclists and instill in them the spirit and passion for cycling. Giovanni believes that cycling is not just a sport but also an excellent way to release stress and find solace in the open road.
With a focus on long-distance and hill riding, Giovanni's coaching style emphasizes endurance, technique, and mental resilience. He understands that not everyone may be interested in competition, but he believes that cycling can be a powerful tool for personal growth and stress relief.

Brook Ramshaw

Brook was one of the most successful junior cyclist the state has produced. She won over 20 state medals as a junior, a National medallist, was Junior road rider of the year and the youngest cyclist to ever get a WAIS scholarship and also received a VIS scholarship.
She understands the pressures and challenges of juggling school and riding and is keen to guide the next generation of riders and help them to have fun while still achieving their goals.
