

WAIS TALENT IDENTIFICATION
Identifying the next generation of Australian Olympians
WAIS Talent Identification Programs
Throughout 2017 the WAIS Talent Identification programs are delivered within selected schools to identify and develop prospective high performance athletes in both rowing and track cycling.
Some students will be identified through this testing as possibly having “natural talent or desire” to take part in the sport of cycling.

Aimed at students between 15 and 17 years
Have potential athletic ability in power/endurance sports
Achieve anthropometric, strength & endurance testing criteria
Have the ability or desire to be part of a high performance program

Aimed at students between 13 and 15 years
Have potential athletic ability, either in endurance or sprinting
Show a demonstrable interest in the sport of cycling
Have the ability or desire to be part of a high performance cycling program

LUKE DURBRIDGE
- Talent Identified by WAIS in 2005
- Junior World Champion in Team Pursuit 2008, 2009
- 2010 Commonwealth Games Bronze in Time Trial
- 2011 U23 World Champion in Road Time Trial and Track Team Pursuit
- Australian National Champion in Road Race and Time Trial
- Current member of Orica-Scott team winning stages of the Giro d’Ítalia and competing in the Tour de France

- Dave is currently training professionally at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra looking forward to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
