CYCLING SCHOOLS ACADEMY PROGRAM
The Cycling Schools Academy Program is an initiative aimed at high school students aged between 13 and 15 years of age to identify individuals who are physiologically pre-disposed to the sport of cycling.
National Cycling Centre WA and Western Australian Institute of Sport coaches will test students at participating schools via the Cycling Australia talent identification testing protocol.
Selected athletes will be invited to participate in the Schools Academy Program, which has been specifically designed to fast track athletes into a new sport.
Western Australia has a rich history of developing talented cyclists from School Talent Identification Programs. These cyclists have gone on to represent Australia in a number of international events including the Olympic games.
The school-testing program identifies the existence of an athlete’s natural talent and athletic potential. However, it is acknowledged that to translate this into achievement, it is crucial to have a supportive environment and healthy sport culture. We aim to provide this vital support through the Schools Academy Program and this will underpin the young athletes development and future success.
Please contact us for more information if your school would like to participate or put forward an athlete for testing consideration.
