Canada, Australia and Hong Kong to form Cycling Alliance

The creation of an international junior cycling agreement, called The Alliance, has been announced today.

National Cycling Centre Hamilton (Ontario-Canada) president Ward Black says the initiative will see the formation of an international exchange program between Canada, Western Australia and Hong Kong.

The key vision of the Alliance is the collaboration between countries in the Northern and Southern hemispheres to develop and promote junior cycling within these regions.

The initiative extends current partnerships with organizations in USA, Australia, Brazil and New Zealand with a focus on three key areas.

  • International Competitions
  • Rider and Cultural Exchange
  • Coach Development Exchange

The partnership will offer wide-ranging support and guidance within a strong team environment. Members will access international racing and training opportunities underpinned by an holistic approach to athlete and coaching development.

Black says the program will be delivered in conjunction with alliance partners National Cycling Centre Western Australia, X-Speed Australia Cycle Club and X Speed Sports Club Hong Kong. “We are delighted to announce this initiative. Through strong international partnerships we are creating unique pathways for our young riders”.

2018 will see Western Australia accept Hong Kong national Adrian Lum into their junior program while Canada will host X-Speed Australia Junior men Luke Skehan and Taj Mueller for the 2019 season.
