X-Speed Australia Team named for Hong Kong International Track Cup.
X-Speed Australia Cycle Club is pleased to name the six rider squad selected to represent us at the 3rd UCI Category 1, International Track Cup in Hong Kong 31st March – 21st April 2018.
Heading up the men’s team are Luke Plapp and Nic Abels. Australian U19 time trial champion, Plapp, recently selected for the Australian junior worlds track team will partner fellow Victorian Nic Abels in the men’s Madison in preparation for his junior worlds campaign in Aigle later this year. Abel’s will contest the elite men’s omnium. Olympic Madison gold medalist Graeme Brown also joins us as team coach and mentor.
WA’s Josh Down, rounds out the men’s squad making his debut on the international circuit in the elite mens sprint events.
Local under 19 girls Rebecca Blake and Emma Lendrum will also partner for the junior women’s Madison while Zoe Clayton will be our elite female representative.
With the Tseung Kwan O velodrome recently awarded another round of the World Cup, scheduled for January 2019, Hong Kong continues to show its appeal as a mecca for international track racing. The Asian Track Championships held in Malaysia last week showcased the rise and rise of Asian cycling. It emerges as a region to watch as we head toward Tokyo 2020.
