Central Districts Junior Tour – South Australia is the best junior tour in the country!
Hi my name is Jasmyn Quick I would just like to share a few of my experience on the CDJT trip in April 2017. I remember this trip as if it was yesterday. It was such a brilliant experience and it couldn’t have been done without the fantastic support by our coaches. This trip was a great way to make new friends and to make friendships stronger. I have made new friends from South Australia and still manage to keep in touch with them.
I loved getting up in the mornings to the feeling of the cool, refreshing air. I looked forward to training in the mornings and then going down to the local town for coffees and milkshakes as a treat and then afterwards, looking/shopping in different shops. I thoroughly enjoyed training in the Barossa Valley as there were people I have never trained with before which was a good experience to learn from so many cyclists with different riding skills and abilities. At the campsite there was never an opportunity to be bored you were either socializing with different people or exploring the camp sight. After going into town we came back as a group and got to explore the camp grounds more where we went swimming in the pool, went to the waterslide park, and of course the bouncy cushion!
Now for the racing, the more serious side of the trip. I myself found racing to be really enjoyable and exciting and was such a great learning experience. I had only been riding for 6 months and I decided it was a great idea to race my first road race at this tour. There was some challenging courses in the road races but what’s not a challenge in life. There are some good climbs, like Mengler Hill, with some awesome views when you get to the top. Racing wasn’t all about winning for me it was about creating new PB’s (personal bests) and giving it you’re all. Racing was a great experience for me and I will cherish these memories forever.
This is such a great opportunity for X-Speed riders to represent their club and Western Australia. It’s also great fun to travel with Rob from South West Cycle Club and their riders as a joint WA team. Good luck to all the riders going to the Central Districts Junior Tour in 2018, you’ll have an awesome time.
